Successful retail, wholesale and manufacturing business in Melbourne's South-East is looking for an aspiring Accountant to join their professional Finance team.  This exciting company manages many recognised brands and has a defined footprint in Australia's retail space.  If you are a Junior Accountant looking to take the next step in your career then this is the ideal role for you, working under strong leadership and in an enjoyable and fun environment.

Reporting through to the CFO you will manage the General Ledger and the balance sheet and inter-company reconciliations connected to it.  You will ensure the integrity of the chart of accounts and be responsible for all the monthly and ad-hoc journals.  You will be responsible for reconciling the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to the GL.  Your AP experience will be valued as you will have responsibility for the staff expense reimbursements in SAP Concur and the customs invoices on the large freight forwarding accounts.  Initially there will be a heavy emphasis on AP to help you understand the spending patterns of the business and its operating rhythm.

You will be CA or CPA qualified or close to completion and have a strong understanding of Accounts Payable.  Ideally you will have experience working for a large retailer or come from a wholesale or manufacturing background.  You will be experienced with large ERP systems like SAP and if by chance you had experience with Apparel21 then it would be highly regarded.  Of course your Excel and financial modelling skills will be well developed.  Analytically and technically strong you will understand the principles of internal controls and foreign currency transactions.  Clear communications skills is a must.
