BID AND TENDER MANAGER

Our client is an ASX 100 waste and resource recovery iconic market leader, and today they are seeking to appoint a talented and empowering, Bid and Tender Manager to take responsibility for the close knit team, ensuring the delivery of a high quality and consistent customer proposition across all business units for mid-market customers through to priority and national accounts.

As the Bid and Tender Manager, you will be accountable for bid and tender writing, leading, coaching and developing the Bids Management team of this billion-dollar business, ensuring the bid and tender response functions are performed in compliance with the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives. Leading a team of bid, tender and sales solutions specialists, this leadership role will actively work on and oversee how the function supports the business to bid for and retain customers. This includes optimising and advocating for the tender framework and developing key aspects of the value proposition to sell our clients total waste management and sustainability offering.

This role has three critical elements: 

  1. To grow the profile and reputation of the Bids and Tenders team internally to ensure the team are trusted advisors for their national sales teams, along with their enterprise service colleagues (eg. HR, HSE, Commercial, Legal)

  2. To improve the sales capability to make their value proposition meaningful for customers and deliver higher quality bids across the board (low value through to National)

  3. Grow and develop the Bids & Tender team individuals to ensure they are reaching their full potential

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the team to perform at their best, continuing to develop skills and engagement, actively contributing to creating a high-performance, values-based company culture

  • Develop productive relationships with key stakeholders to continuously improve process

  • Work with sales, operations and strategy to understand the value proposition and develop industry-tailored propositions that highlight total waste management and sustainability solutions

  • Work with sales teams and the bids and tenders’ team to produce high quality proposals & tender responses for both existing and potential clients

  • Support sales and other key roles to sell their value proposition with confidence

  • Full accountability for your teams bid and tender processes, including systems for tracking, performance and reporting, and auditing – this includes Salesforce, Sharepoint and 3rd party tender panels

  • Development of a KMS solution for bid and tender responses, ensuring if provides easy access for the entire sales team and is easily adapted to produce new tender responses and proposals

  • Ensure tender panels are actively managed to capture new opportunities, enforce process to ensure opportunities are reviewed and considered for bid or no bid response in a timely manner

  • Management Reporting – producing pipeline and win/loss reporting to demonstrate value added by bid and tender team

  • Demonstrated experience as a coach and mentor

  • Direct exp managing & writing successful bids for complex projects and customers ($1m )

  • The maintenance of both an Internal and external customer focus

  • Operating at a strategic level to develop organisational narrative and customer solutions, while working with internal partners to integrate the proposition across the sales process

  • Support sales and other key roles to sell our client's value proposition with confidence

  • Bid analysis to determine Go/No Go gate posts
